If you've ever lost a furry friend, you know what a gaping hole it leaves in your heart. Here's a little poem our founder, Daryl, wrote about his best friend for over 16 years, Lucy the chow/lab mix.
------------
A Very Special Friend
Every morning when I wake up I have a friend that smiles and smiles
Every day when I leave I have a friend that smiles and smiles
Every time I go to walk I have a friend that smiles and smiles
Every time I come home I have a friend that smiles and smiles
Every time I go to bed I have a friend that smiles and smiles
So smiles and smiles turn to miles and miles and my friend keeps smiling and comforts me
We have suffered good and bad together, grown old together, laughed and learned together
She is a very special friend and she still smiles and smiles
The tail wags miles and miles as she smiles and smiles, while the tail wags, miles and miles
She knows not the comfort she gives but her offering is everything on my list
She is a very special friend to us as she never curses and never cussed
She is always there with a smile and care and she is very special to us all
To My Very Special past friend,
Lucy
